Do you ever find that doing homework with your child can become more of a battle than a productive learning session? I know that in my own experience, it was often more difficult to learn from my own parents, or to teach my own son when it came to various things. Many times this is because the kid has been taught a way other than what the parent is trying to teach it. This can lead to frustration when the child insists that the parents are not doing it right, even when they are. We have to remember that in math, problems can be solved many ways, and there is not just one correct method.

Here are some ways to alleviate the stress in this situation.

Discuss with your child how you need to work together in both a nice and efficient manner—even when you disagree. Doing this will help them learn how to work in a group and avoid frustration in the future.

Work all the easier problems first

Utilize the internet for help on the topic

Have you child seek help on the problem that is bothering them first thing in the morning when they get to school

Sign up for a homework help service or possibly a tutoring service where your child can get their question answered.

Rely on a math tutoring professional to help your family avoid this situation completely
